While the Pace Vikings couldn't quite beat the Donna Redskins on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 33-point defeat they were dealt last Tuesday. Pace fell just short of the Redskins by a score of 29-26. Pace has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Andie Lozano-lomeli and Kayla Cavazos certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lozano-lomeli scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four blocks, while Cavazos scored five points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Lozano-lomeli has been hot recently, having posted four or more blocks the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katelynn Ortega, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Pace has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-25 record this season. As for Donna, their victory bumped their record up to 9-17.
Pace will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Veterans Memorial presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Vikings in Texas (the Chargers are ranked 301st, while the Vikings are ranked 1331st). As for Donna, they will head out on the road to face off against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
