The Los Osos Grizzlies and the Kaiser Cats squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Los Osos Grizzlies had to settle for second. Los Osos and Kaiser were almost perfectly matched up, but Los Osos suffered an agonizing 50-49 loss. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Los Osos in their matchups with Kaiser: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Los Osos still got an impressive performance from Mason Overacker, who rushed for 138 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns. Overacker is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Nathan Castro also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Kiyel Tyler had a dynamite game for Kaiser, rushing for 317 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per carry. Tyler was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Jonathan Marshall Jr also helped out as he racked up 121 rushing yards.
Los Osos' loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Kaiser, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Los Osos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Kaiser will be playing in front of their home fans against Santa Monica at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Santa Monica is ranked 235th, while Kaiser is ranked 257th).
