Softball Recap: Wheeling Has No Trouble Against Waukegan

Wheeling won the last time they faced Waukegan and things went their way on Monday too. The Wildcats blew past the Bulldogs 18-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Alaina Costello and Mia Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Costello went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Smith got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Costello has posted since back in April. Angela Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Wheeling's victory bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Waukegan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.

Coming up, Wheeling will face off against Warren Township at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Blue Devils have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Waukegan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
