Having just played yesterday, the Peoria Panthers will jump right back in to play the Stansbury Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Peoria and nine for Stansbury dating back to last season.
Peoria's 28-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were beaten by Rancho Solano Prep 80-46 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Peoria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Rancho Solano Prep is ranked 48th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Terrell Colenburg, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Marcell Colenberg, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Stansbury took a serious blow against Hillcrest last Tuesday, falling 73-45.
Like Peoria, Stansbury lost despite seeing results from several players. Jackson Hymer led the charge by scoring eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tobi Johnson, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Stansbury were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Peoria's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Stansbury, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Peoria have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 18.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Stansbury struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 24.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
