It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Osborne Bulldogs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past Oakley 41-39.
Oakley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jade Beckman, who scored 9 points along with 11 rebounds and 5 steals. Beckman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karli Krier, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Osborne's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Oakley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Osborne will take on Victoria at TBD on Tuesday. Victoria will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Osborne is ranked 67th). As for Oakley, they will be playing at home against Thomas More Prep-Marian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
