With a playoff game on the line, Midland rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 31-21 win over Americas. Given Midland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Americas is ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Byron Nelson put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Crowley 52-28. Considering Byron Nelson has won nine contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Their wins bumped Midland to 9-2 and Byron Nelson to 11-0.
