Davis was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in Modesto Metro. The Spartans vanquished Johansen 28-12 earlier in the week.
Downey extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Modesto, 46-32. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Downey's dynamic duo of Aaron Zwahlen and Tristan Best proved tough for the Panthers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Zwahlen threw for 339 yards and five touchdowns and Best had 107 yards receiving. Richard Lopez helped Downey's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 90 yards.
Shawn Munoz was the most productive running back in the league this week. In eight carries, he ran for 146 yards as Enochs topped Modesto. Teammate Gabriel Lindsey-Turner added to the ground attack by rushing for 121 yards.
Daniel Villavicencio made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Eagles defeated Gregori. The 5-foot-11 junior racked up 2.0 sacks.
The Knights' Zwahlen and Lopez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Modesto Metro in both passing and receiving yards. Zwahlen has thrown for 2202 yards this season, while Lopez, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 33 catches for 699 yards. Munoz from Enochs leads the league in rushing with 742 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Rodney Long's team takes on James Stacy's team. As it stands, the Panthers are in fourth, while the Eagles are in second.
Modesto moved up to 666 from 716 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of a 46-32 win over the Panthers.
