Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Fern Creek Tigers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were the victim of a tough 34-14 defeat at the hands of Male on Friday. Fern Creek has not had much luck with Male recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Shammai Gates was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 158 yards while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Max Gainey also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.
Fern Creek's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Male, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Fern Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Male will head out on the road to face off against Frederick Douglass at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Frederick Douglass is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
