Softball Recap: Morris Central/Edmeston Central's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Morris Central/Edmeston Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Cherry Valley-Springfield Patriots with a sharp 10-3 victory. The result was nothing new for Morris Central/Edmeston Central, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hannah Wist was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chelsey Clegg, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Trinitie Barker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Morris Central/Edmeston Central's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Cherry Valley-Springfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Morris Central/Edmeston Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-9 victory against Laurens Central on the 31st. Cherry Valley-Springfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
