The postseason has brought with it a whole lot of change in the power rankings. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Scituate and Dennis-Yarmouth Regional.
Welcome
Given its edge in the MaxPreps state rankings, a win looked likely for Franklin in its matchup against Brockton. The team got that and then some. Franklin took its game against Brockton by a confident 26 - 3 score. The dominant performance adds to Franklin's intimidating total: it now has five blowout victories so far this season. The win also thrust it into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 18th spot.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Bedford and Merrimack, 1st and 9th in the MaxPreps state rankings, respectively. The final score between Bedford and Merrimack was a 56 - 14 blowout in Bedford's favor. In addition to the W, the game brought Bedford's streak of high scores to eight games.
No Stoppin 'Em
Bishop Feehan and Hingham went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (71) among all power ranked teams. Hingham got a somewhat close 39 - 32 victory over Bishop Feehan. Hopefully the win is satisfying enough on its own since Hingham actually slipped nine places in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Londonderry (24th in the power rankings) and Pinkerton (23rd). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out on Saturday which team fails to repeat its success.
