The Brush Beetdiggers have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They managed a 55-51 victory over Estes Park on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Brush also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Brush found their leader in underclassman Edgar Ortiz, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Thatcher Queen was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Donavyn Meulener, who scored 15 points. It was the first time this season that Meulener scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryland Reetz, who scored 14 points.
Brush's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13. As for Estes Park, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
Brush will head out on the road to challenge Liberty Common at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Estes Park, they will face off against Timnath at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Estes Park is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.
