Softball Recap: Newaygo's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Newaygo extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 12-8 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Whitehall Vikings. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 on Monday.

As for Whitehall, they dropped their record down to 13-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 4.25 runs.

For Whitehall's part, Bella Fogus stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she earned one RBI, one run, and three stolen bases. Peyton Schultz was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base.

Coming up, Newaygo will venture away from home to take on Morley Stanwood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Whitehall, they will host Belding at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
