On Saturday, the Tri County Northeast Wolfpack's game was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged Osmond/Randolph out 45-43. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Tri County Northeast did.
Tri County Northeast got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hunter Heikes out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Heikes has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ben Jorgensen, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Osmond/Randolph still got an impressive performance from Owen Severson, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Severson has scored all season.
Tri County Northeast's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Osmond/Randolph, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
Tri County Northeast is on the road again on Friday and plays Winnebago on February 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Tri County Northeast is ranked 200th, while Winnebago is ranked 204th). As for Osmond/Randolph, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Wausa at 7:45 p.m. Hopefully Osmond/Randolph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
