El Camino recap November 5, 2013
Monta Vista extended the longest winning streak in El Camino this week by beating Gunn, 48-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Monta Vista took down the Titans 48-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Justin Cena ran for 133 yards in the win.
Homestead's dynamic duo of Trey Arfman and Bryan Erickson proved tough for Lynbrook to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Arfman threw for 25 yards and Erickson had 13 yards receiving.
Cena provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Jeff Mueller's team beat Gunn.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Los Altos's Christopher Lanman and Victor Ruiz have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Lanman has thrown for 1,568 yards this season, while Ruiz has 50 catches for 803 yards. Cena from the Matadors leads the league in rushing with 1,487 yards.
The Eagles' Sean Lanoza is a mere 48 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Lanoza has rushed for 952 yards on 118 carries so far this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Cupertino takes on the Mustangs. The Pioneers are in fifth place, while Homestead is in first place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Cupertino takes on Milo Lewis' team. Chris Oswald's team has allowed 133 points this season, while the Mustangs have given up 120.
