The Essex Trojans lost against the Middlesex Chargers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Essex was dealt a 70-43 loss at the hands of Middlesex. Essex was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-19.
Middlesex got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Malik Dandy out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Dandy hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of JaQuan Griffin, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Essex and nudges their season record down to 5-13. As for Middlesex, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Essex will take on Jamestown at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Middlesex, they will head out on the road to challenge Nandua at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Middlesex knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Nandua likes a good challenge.
