Block Island is on a six-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), the Eagles an 11-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Block Island will take on the Times Squared Academy Eagles at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Saturday, Block Island was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 35-30 to the Panthers. Block Island has struggled against the Panthers recently, as their game on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Haley Conant, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cora Ryan, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Times Squared Academy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 33-16 loss to the Blue Wave on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Times Squared Academy has scored all season.
Block Island's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Times Squared Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
Everything came up roses for Block Island against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 49-22 win. Will Block Island repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
