Softball Recap: Southside Wins Going Away Against Carolina Academy

Southside's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Carolina Academy Trojans as Southside made off with a 24-8 win. The Tigers have beaten the Trojans the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Trojans has come to flipping the script.

Southside let Katie Carter and Trinity Waters run wild. Carter scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Waters scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Carter also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bre'Asia Forward, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs.

Southside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .679. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Southside's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Carolina Academy, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southside will challenge Emerald at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carolina Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Berea at 6:00 p.m.
