Fleming Island has gone a perfect 5-0 against Bishop Snyder recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Fleming Island will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Oakleaf, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Fleming Island blew past Oakleaf 8-1 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Golden Eagles have won by exactly seven runs.
Mallory Blackwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Massey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Olivia Sikes, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Bishop Snyder scored first but ultimately less than Ridgeview in their match on Monday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-7.
Caitlyn Boshell put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Boshell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Lola Aberly was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
The win made it two in a row for Fleming Island and bumps their season record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Bishop Snyder, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fleming Island hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Bishop Snyder struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fleming Island took their win against Bishop Snyder in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fleming Island since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
