Baseball Recap: Almont's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Almont dropped their record down to 9-8 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Marine City Mariners, falling 10-3. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mariners earlier this season, when they won 10-6.

As for Marine City, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

For Marine City's part, Noah Northrup spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. Northrup has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marine City let Cooper Letson and Paul Muscat run wild. Letson went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Muscat went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That home run was Letson's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Blunden, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Almont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marine City, they will be playing at home against Port Huron at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
