Alivia Nicklow was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Huntingdon got a big performance out of Julia Foster, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave Foster a new career-high. Izzy Kazmarski also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Huntingdon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Central Cambria sidestepped Penns Valley Area for a 3-2 victory.
Aubrey Ruddek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keira Link, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Huntingdon's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Central Cambria, their record is now 11-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Huntingdon hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Central Cambria struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
