There's no place like home for the South Pike Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Saturday. They took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 63-34 win over Wilkinson County. That looming 63-34 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for South Pike yet this season.
South Pike was led to victory by Jovon Leavy and Lavell Thompson. Leavy scored 17 points, while Thompson scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was John Harrell, who scored 11 points.
South Pike's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Wilkinson County, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Pike will be home for the holidays to greet Clinton Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wilkinson County will be home for the holidays to greet McComb at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McComb knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Wilkinson County likes a good challenge.
