The Millburn Millers posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 68-37 win over Verona. Given Millburn's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Verona is ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zach Benmorits was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Millburn's points. Another player making a difference was Chace Redler, who scored 12 points.
Millburn pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Verona, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millburn will play host again and welcome Cranford, where tip off is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Verona won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Beloved Community Charter at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Beloved Community Charter has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 26.
