Sacopee Valley is 8-2 against Old Orchard Beach since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Hawks will be playing at home against the Seagulls at 4:00 p.m. The last four games Sacopee Valley has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Sacopee Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Monmouth Academy 4-3.

Braiden Croteau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Silas Nielsen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradly Metcalf, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Old Orchard Beach suffered their closest defeat since June 6, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Mount Abram by a score of 14-12. The Seagulls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Aiden Hodgkins put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hodgkins was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Trot Moody was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Old Orchard Beach is 5-1 when Moody posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kooper Gervais, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Sacopee Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Old Orchard Beach, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sacopee Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Old Orchard Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Sacopee Valley skirted past Old Orchard Beach 3-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Seagulls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
