The Point Pleasant Boro Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Spotswood Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Point Pleasant Boro is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Spotswood in New Jersey (Point Pleasant Boro is ranked 20th, while Spotswood is ranked 251st).
Point Pleasant Boro stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Raritan 50-0 on the road. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Point Pleasant Boro had established a 36 point advantage.
Matt Oliphant continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 171 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Oliphant hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Jake Clayton was another key contributor, rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Point Pleasant Boro's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was George Walsh and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Spotswood earned a 22-14 win over J.P. Stevens on Saturday. The win was just what Spotswood needed coming off of a 48-0 defeat in their prior contest.
The victory makes it two in a row for Point Pleasant Boro and bumps their season record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42.5 points. As for Spotswood, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
