The Northgate Flames will take on the South Allegheny Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, Northgate got the win against Shady Side Academy by a conclusive 12-3.
Johna Abramowicz made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Abramowicz was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Morgan Gannon was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Bayleigh Hooper was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Northgate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, South Allegheny had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory.
Like Northgate, South Allegheny also got a great game from a two-way player: Carrera Conley. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Conley has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, South Allegheny let Cadence McBride and Cameran Colecchi run wild. McBride went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Colecchi went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sydney Gordon, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Northgate has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for South Allegheny, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northgate has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like South Allegheny struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
