Andover Central is 10-0 against Valley Center since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Andover Central Jaguars will be home for the holidays to greet the Valley Center Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Andover Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
Andover Central's 17-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 42-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Andover. While losing is never fun, Andover Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Andover is ranked 41st).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Hayden Snodgrass, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. She scored a full 34.4% of Andover Central's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Avery Mason, who scored nine points.
Andover Central struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Valley Center was able to grind out a solid win over Andale on Friday, taking the game 44-34. The win made it back-to-back wins for Valley Center.
Andover Central's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-3. As for Valley Center, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Andover Central strolled past Valley Center in their previous matchup back in February by a score of 49-31. Does Andover Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Valley Center turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
