After a string of four wins, the Geneva Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of UMS-Wright Prep. Geneva was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as UMS-Wright Prep apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Geneva's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rayanna Ausley, who scored nine points along with three steals. Cheyenne Hammock was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Geneva's loss dropped their record down to 19-9. As for UMS-Wright Prep, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-7.
Geneva does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for UMS-Wright Prep, they will take on T.R. Miller at TBD on Monday. T.R. Miller's defense has only allowed 23.8 points per game this season, so UMS-Wright Prep's offense will have their work cut out for them.
