Basketball Recap: Briar Ray Key Part of a Team Effort in Knights Win

Oakland-Craig lost to Clarkson/Leigh back in February, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Oakland-Craig Knights enjoyed a cozy 43-28 victory over the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Briar Ray led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Ray has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Hilary Ray, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Baylee Settje, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Ava Kasik was another key player, going 6 of 8 on her way to 13 points and three steals.

Oakland-Craig's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for Clarkson/Leigh, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Oakland-Craig wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-36 victory against Howells-Dodge on the 14th. As for Clarkson/Leigh, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-42 win against Bancroft-Rosalie on the 12th.
