Volleyball Recap: Model Secondary School for the Deaf Comes Up Short

The Model Secondary School for the Deaf Eagles came up short against the Fredericksburg V Victory on Saturday and fell 2-0.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Fredericksburg V scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-21.

Nirveli Smith paced Model Secondary School for the Deaf's offense, picking up four kills. Smith got some help from Matilde Mansfield and her five assists. Finally, Kelis Bolton kept Model Secondary School for the Deaf's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Model Secondary School for the Deaf's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Fredericksburg V, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Coincidentally, Model Secondary School for the Deaf and Fredericksburg V will both be playing Maryland School for the Deaf the next time they take the court. The Eagles will head out to face the Orioles at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Victory will play them later in the day, at 3:30 p.m.
