The Wes-Del Warriors will head out to take on the Cowan Blackhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wes-Del is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Wes-Del came up short against Eastern Hancock on Monday, falling 8-2. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wes-Del saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailee West, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cowan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Daleville on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Blackhawks as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Savannah Hall made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Hall was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Madison Norris was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Jones, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Cowan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Cowan's record now sits at 7-14. As for Wes-Del, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-7.
Cowan's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Wes-Del has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Cowan, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Wes-Del keep running through batters, or will the Blackhawks buck the trend?
Everything went Wes-Del's way against Cowan when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Wes-Del made off with a 9-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
