On Wednesday, the West Orange Mountaineers faced the Eastside Ghosts in a battle between two of the state's top teams. West Orange took down Eastside 57-39. The victory was familiar territory for West Orange who now have four in a row.
West Orange got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anaya Karriem out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. Karriem set a new season high mark in blocks with seven. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhyan Watt, who scored 17 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
West Orange's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Eastside, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
West Orange will finish 2023 at home by hosting Teaneck at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Teaneck will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 48th, while West Orange is ranked eighth). Eastside's road trip will continue as they head out to face North Plainfield on December 29, 2023. North Plainfield's defense has only allowed 26 points per game this season, so Eastside's offense will have their work cut out for Eastside.
