The Wausa Vikings pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-56 to Gayville-Volin. Wausa was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Gayville-Volin apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Schindler, who scored 13 points. The contest was Schindler's third in a row with at least ten points. Brady Bloomquist was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Wausa now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Gayville-Volin, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.
Wausa will take on Wynot on Friday. Hopefully Wynot focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday. As for Gayville-Volin, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Andes Central/Dakota Christian at 7:15 p.m.
