After a string of seven wins, the Leonardtown Raiders's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of North Point by a score of 50-48. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Leonardtown in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Leonardtown still got an impressive performance from Gretchen Fleck, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fleck has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Teonne Thomas, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Leonardtown's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. As for North Point, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5.
Leonardtown will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Westlake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Raiders are ranked 82nd). As for North Point, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Raiders at 12:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Loch Raven is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season.
