Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Evangelical Christian Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by Webb on the road and fell 34-7. While losing is never fun, Evangelical Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Webb is ranked 41st).
Max Stegall and Nick Owens certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Stegall picked up 137 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Owens rushed for 77 yards. Stegall's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Evangelical Christian and nudges their season record down to 4-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.5 points per game. As for Webb, their victory was their seventh straight at home , which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Evangelical Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Webb will head out on the road to face off against Franklin Road Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin Road Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
