The Cactus Cobras's and the Sage Hill Lightning's's matchup on Saturday was close at halftime, but the Cactus Cobras turned on the heat in the second half with 35 points. Cactus put the hurt on Sage Hill with a sharp 63-37 victory. Given Cactus' advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 44th in Arizona, while Sage Hill is ranked 667th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cactus was led to victory by Tyler Hutton and Bradey Henige. Hutton scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Henige dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds. The contest was Henige's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Matt Henige, who scored eight points.
Cactus' win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Sage Hill, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cactus will square off against Shadow Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shadow Mountain is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Sage Hill and Mission Viejo will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mission Viejo is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.6 points per game.
