Springstead's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They didn't even let Citrus on the board, marking the Eagles' second-straight 4-0 shutout.

Alivia Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Whitacre, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Mitchell and Sunlake had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mustangs blew past the Seahawks 14-2 on Tuesday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Springstead, Mitchell also got a great game from a two-way player: Madyson Whitaker. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Whitaker was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MacKenzie Tucker, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Tucker, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Mitchell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Springstead's record is now 13-1. As for Mitchell, their record now sits at 15-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Springstead hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mitchell struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Springstead suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Mitchell in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
