The Centennial Knights will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Chattahoochee Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Chattahoochee took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Centennial, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Centennial earned a 49-40 win over the Spartans. The victory was just what Centennial needed coming off of a 53-25 defeat in their prior game.
Centennial's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diamond Leslie, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatiana Oquendo, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Chattahoochee's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 36-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cambridge. Chattahoochee has not had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Laila West, who scored ten points along with three steals. Riley Berninger was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Chattahoochee, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season.
Centennial beat the Cougars 32-23 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Centennial repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
