Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Exeter Monarchs walked away with it. They skirted past Highland 38-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Aidan Robertson was the offensive standout of the match as he picked up 177 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jacob Molina, who threw for 233 yards and four touchdowns.
Several Scots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Johnny Brucker, who picked up 150 receiving yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Mendez, who threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns.
Exeter's victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points per game. As for Highland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Exeter will be playing in front of their home fans against Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Roosevelt knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Exeter likes a good challenge. Highland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
