Overland has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Denver East Angels at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 15 more assists than your opponent, a fact Overland proved on Friday. They claimed a resounding 77-30 win over Aurora Central at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-15.
Among those leading the charge was Isreal Littleton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Siraaj Ali, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists.
Meanwhile, Denver East faced DSST: Conservatory Green in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Denver East took their contest at home on Monday with ease, bagging a 79-33 victory over DSST: Conservatory Green. Denver East's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Denver East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but James Murray led the charge by scoring 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maurice Fulcher, who scored 17 points.
Broomfield's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Overland's loss dropped theirs to 0-2.
Overland took a serious blow against Denver East in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 84-56. Thankfully for Overland, D'Aundre Samuels (who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 10 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
