The Phillipsburg Stateliners waltzed into their match on Saturday with 17 straight wins but they left with 18. They strolled past Warren Hills Regional with points to spare, taking the game 64-50. Given Phillipsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 161st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Phillipsburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Martin, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Matthew Scerbo jr. was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Phillipsburg's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Warren Hills Regional, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phillipsburg will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Warren Hills Regional, they will face off against the Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
