The Richland Colts pushed their score all the way to 58 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Oakes by a score of 60-58. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Richland in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now lost four in a row.
Lily Thorpe was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds for Oakes. Another player making a difference was Molly Sitzler, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Richland dropped their record down to 6-12 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Oakes, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Richland will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Warbirds at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Dakota (Wyndmere/Lidgerwood is ranked 73rd, while the Colts are ranked 83rd). As for Oakes, they will head out on the road to square off against the Loboes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. LaMoure/Litchville-Marion and the Tornadoes are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
