Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hope). They slipped by the Ponaganset Chieftains 83-82 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Blue Wave, who suffered a 54-43 loss the last time these two teams met.

Despite the defeat, Ponaganset had strong showings from Justin Welch, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds, and Gabe Mongeon, who went 7 for 15 en route to 18 points along with six boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Welch is now averaging an impressive 8.6 rebounds per game. TIm Hicks was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to nine boards and five assists.

Hope's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Ponaganset, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
