On Monday, the Bell Griffins faced the Jackson-Reed Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bell took a serious blow against Jackson-Reed, falling 58-1. The loss means Bell is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.
Leading Jackson-Reed to victory were Aminyah Muhammed and Kryslynn Stewart. Muhammed scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Stewart scored 16 points along with five steals. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Michaela Jenkins, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Bell bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.4 points per game. As for Jackson-Reed, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6-1 record this season.
Bell will head out on the road to challenge Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jackson-Reed, they will be playing at home against Bard at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bard comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
