Nansemond River is a perfect 3-0 against Manor since May of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Nansemond River is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past King's Fork 17-3 on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Warriors with their most commanding win of the season.
Cheyenne Lawrence was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Nansemond River let Reagan Parkman and Ashlyn Pociask run wild. Parkman got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Pociask went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Kendall Selby also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Nansemond River hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
While Manor didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Maury on Friday as they made off with a 19-4 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Makenzi Lafave made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Lafave was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Ciah Leinart and Zoey Scott did most of the damage at the plate: Leinart got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Scott went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Makenzie Monty was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Manor and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Nansemond River, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Manor's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Nansemond River hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. It's a different story for Manor, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Nansemond River's hitters?
Everything went Nansemond River's way against Manor when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Nansemond River made off with an 18-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
