Caruthers kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 3-1 to the Hoover Patriots. The Blue Raiders were not able to make up for their loss to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.
Caruthers was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Hoover work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-14, 20-25, 25-22.
Leading Hoover to victory were Alejandra Espino and Madison Vang. Espino had five digs and three aces, while Vang had 14 digs and three assists. The dominant performance also gave Espino a new career-high in assists (17).
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caruthers will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Avenal on Wednesday. As for Hoover, they will face off against Yosemite at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
