Cypress Lake has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Port Charlotte Pirates at TBD on Thursday. Cypress Lake has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Ida Baker scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Cypress Lake still came out on top. Cypress Lake walked away with a 66-56 victory over the Bulldogs.
Cypress Lake's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elias Jones, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew White, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Port Charlotte was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 53-48 to the Golden Eagles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Port Charlotte came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 343rd).
Cypress Lake is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season. As for Port Charlotte, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.
Cypress Lake was dealt a bruising 73-32 loss at the hands of the Pirates in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. Can Cypress Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
