The Avon Park Red Devils's four-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Tuesday. They blew past Frostproof 45-10 at home. The victory was just what Avon Park needed coming off of a 54-34 loss in their prior matchup.
Avon Park found their leader in underclassman Tytianna Allen, who scored 24 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Allen has scored at least 25% of Avon Park's points. Keivelisse Soto was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Payton Turner, who scored five points. Turner scored a full 50% of Frostproof's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Avon Park's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Frostproof, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon Park will take on DeSoto County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. DeSoto County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Avon Park in Florida (DeSoto County is ranked 72nd, while Avon Park is ranked 474th). As for Frostproof, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Jordan Christian Prep at 7:00 p.m. Allowing an average of 63 points per game, Jordan Christian Prep has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this game.
