Holmes has gone 8-2 against Gates County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Holmes Aces will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gates County Red Barons at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Holmes is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand North Pitt a 13-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Aces in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Mia Hoffer made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harper Evans, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Gates County can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over Northeastern. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Red Barons have posted since April 19, 2024.
Like Holmes, Gates County also got a great game from a two-way player: Hailey Bauer. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the first time Bauer hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Gates County got a massive performance out of Emma Sheets, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Lauren Ross was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Holmes took their victory against Gates County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Will Holmes repeat their success, or does Gates County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
