The Riverdale Ridge Ravens will face off against the Westminster Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverdale Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Riverdale Ridge will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Denver North on Tuesday. The Ravens put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 10-3 victory. Considering the Ravens have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Tyler Swan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jeter McArthur, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Westminster finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They came up short against Prairie View, falling 7-1. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Thunderhawks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Riverdale Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Westminster, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Riverdale Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Westminster struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Riverdale Ridge's way against Westminster when the teams last played on April 8th, as Riverdale Ridge made off with a 15-3 victory. Will the Ravens repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
