WASHINGTON, D.C. - The defense contributed on the scoring end for
McKinley Tech (Washington, D.C.) on Saturday, totaling 14 points as the Trainers beat Eastern (Washington, D.C.) 44-12.
After taking the lead on a defensive touchdown in the second quarter, the Trainers were up 14-6 at the half.
McKinley Tech expanded its lead to 26 points entering the fourth quarter. MT scored six times in the third, including once on a
Kenneth Matthews touchdown pass to
De'Markco Moorer.
The Trainers put up 24 points in the third quarter en route to the win. McKinley Tech scored on a touchdown pass by Matthews to Moorer, a kick return touchdown by
Shaquante Simms and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.
McKinley Tech's most effective player was Moorer. He ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
The Trainers went into the matchup giving up only 16.7 points per game. The 12 points that the Ramblers ended with were below their average of 15.7 coming into the game.
